Privacy policy

What we collect

If you submit the contact form, we receive the information you put in it: your name, work email, organization, role if you provide one, the service area and timeline you select, your description of the situation, and any availability you share. We do not ask for anything else, and you should not send sensitive technical details, credentials, or incident specifics through this form.

Our web host records standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested. These are generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure and are used for security and reliability.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes.

Why we collect it

To respond to your inquiry and, if we go on to work together, to communicate about that engagement. That is the only purpose.

Who processes it

The site is hosted by Netlify, which also handles form submissions and stores them on our behalf. Netlify processes this data as our service provider and is subject to its own privacy commitments. Form submissions are screened for spam by Akismet, operated by Automattic.

Email we exchange with you is handled by our email provider.

We do not transfer your information to any other party except where we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

Form submissions are retained for as long as we may reasonably need them to respond to and follow up on your inquiry, and are deleted when they are no longer needed. If we enter into an engagement, records associated with that engagement are retained according to the terms of that agreement and applicable professional and legal obligations.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to privacy@redbuffalosecurity.com and we will respond.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the Colorado Privacy Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or the General Data Protection Regulation. We will honor valid requests under those laws regardless of whether they apply to us.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. Submissions are transmitted encrypted in transit. We keep the number of systems that touch your information as small as we can, which is the most effective control available here.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than quietly substituted.
